webmarketingexperts.com.au – The Importance of Twitter in SEO
In February 2009, there were already 55 million users of Twitter. Currently, the number of users is even growing more. So, what’s the buzz about it?
Twitter is another social media that is defined as “a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?” (Twitter)
It allows users (following and followers) to send and read the 140-character updates of other users called “tweets.” Tweets can be anything that users want to say aside from saying what they are doing at the moment. One can have tweets in a form of a link of interesting sites videos or images, a link of newly posted blog entry, a link of an article and many others. Others can also post ads. This is very interesting, isn’t it?
The main reason why Twitter is useful in SEO is that Google and other major search engines crawls on tweet updates of Twitterers across the world. It is not yet proven if links posted in tweets can be credited as inbound links but there are assumptions that they are ranking booster. One benefit is guaranteed to be certain, that is the chances of getting higher amount of web traffic. If you have established good relationships with your “followers,” asking them a favor such as “retweeting” your tweet which has link in it would just be easy. In a way, Twitter is a tool in viral marketing.
Tweet now! Or you’ll be left out.
